Biofouling and biofilms are the terms used to describe the attachment of biological material to surfaces. A number of organisms including bacteria, protozoa, amoebae, fungi, barnacles and other organisms have been shown to form biofilms that create nuisances in man--made environments.
Biobewuchs - der Befall mit Mikroorganismen - ist ein Problem, mit dem u.a. Wasserwerke und Betriebe der Nahrungsmittel- und Getränkeindustrie konfrontiert sind. Dieser Band bietet eine systematische Behandlung dieses Themas; besprochen werden u. a. Probleme, die durch Biobewuchs entstehen, Nachweismöglichkeiten des Befalls und natürlich auch Methoden zur Problemlösung. Viele Beispiele und Fallstudien veranschaulichen die fachlichen Erläuterungen. (10/00)
